Today, the 14th of July 2009 was an interesting day!
When I first arrived at Isla Mujeres yesterday, I was very tired, hungry and couldn’t think straight, as I miss my girlfriend so much!
Yesterday’s evening, shortly before I went to bed, this magic island already turned much better. I met Susanna, who probably recognized me such easily, as I was wearing my smily T-shirt =P
She has been here as well, when I enjoyed to stay here two month ago with Daniel, Jumping and Laura!
Just amazing! – if we would have planned, to ever meet again, it pretty sure wouldn’t have worked … – I never expected to stay such long in Guatemala and she has been in the mean time at Cuba …
You can go about two month back in time at the tiny calender in the left sidebar of my website and read about, what we’ve done there! Went as group snorkling at the secret beach and enjoyed often to go for dinner together! =P
I’m lucky, even nearly everybody went on travelling as well, after I left this place, still, some people remembered about me! =)
I didn’t talked all too long last nights evening with Susanna, as I was such extremly tired. I soon went to bed and slept quite long into today. Today I’ve got up around 10am, enjoyed breakfast and then started to pack my big bag.
The stuff, I left at the hostel about two month ago was gladfully still here and so I emtied my bag totally and filled it up again. That took me quite a while. After 2 hours, Susanna and I went to an Internet store, as she decided to open up an account on couchsurfing.com.
We returned around 3pm after walking for half an hour through downtown to the Poc.na hostel, from where I then started my journey to meet Richart.
I actually planned to take a friend from Argentinia with me, but he wasn’t around in time.
So I started to walk on my own and just trusted in myself, that I will reach my destination and goal. As the Island is more or less about 8 kilometers long, I known, I could do it by only walking as well. I could have taken a taxi and be there in only 15 minutes, but I thought, I will give it a try to reach my goal this time totally without using money.
I tried to hitchhike and already the third car (a small golf car) stopped and gave me a lift. An old couple from the USA, which enjoys to life each year about 3 month on the island, been so friendly, to take me a long way with them, until they reached there home.
It was pretty much half the way to the south side, they took me with them. But from there on, absolutely no cars were going into the direction of south on that road. With hitchhiking a moped, I’ve had the problem, that most of them haven’t got a second helmet with them. They take it very serious over here, to wear a helmet, as they otherwise get a ticket by the police.
So on, I had to walk quite a bit, to get to the south side of the island – I guess 2 or 3 kilometers. As soon as I reached the south side, a guy on a moped stopped for me, who got a second helmet with him. He was very friendly and gave me a lift to the round-about in the south, where I told him, that I have to get off.
From there I started walking again and just a minute later, a guy in a pick-up van gave me a lift, directly to the island of Richart.
Using the secret of life, the time in Richart’s life is just managed perfectly.
Exactly at the point of time, when I arrived, a small group of tourists, who just visited his island, left the place. So he only had to take the small boat once, to drop the group off at the big (is)land and pick me up. =)
I brought some stuff with me for him. Everything, I won’t need to take with me – some food (three bananas, chocolate chips, a bread and some frute bars) a scissor, tea and an emty 1,5 liter plastic bottle …
He invited me for lunch (perfect timing – already been hungry ;) and we just talken so amazing much!
Enjoyed sitting on top of the house and later drunk a coffee.
Time was flying by and it already has turned dark outside, when I finally decided, I should start my way back to the Poc.na hostel.
After searching shortly for my sandals, as his dog has took them away, I started to walk back.
I had a really good time with Richart, enjoyed to talk with him about so many topics and connected with him on Facebook. As it was already to dark, when I left, he told me, he will send me a picture from his island, I can upload on my website! =)
I had to walk a bit, maybe for 15 minutes or so, until I reached the south side round-about again, from where a youngh guy gave me a lift to downtown. He was born on the island, but use to live somewhere else in Mexico. He was only for vacations there and drove a cool golf car, which was tuned and much faster than the onces, they gave tourists.
After driving for about 5 minutes, his mum cought up, with an even fast golf car and told him, he has to return home (because of picking something up over there) … I got off his golf car and his mum was as well super friendly and gave me a lift to downtown.
I returned back to my hostel glad and been happy, that my plan about travelling without money worked today very good! =)
I dropped my small packbag here and went shortly to the beach. Even it has been already dark, I had to enjoy the sea for a few minutes. The water is still wonderful warm at that time and you can’t run in problems, as you would need to walk for 15 minutes straight into the sea, until you reach a point, which is deap enough, that you can’t stand anymore! =)
Comming back from the beach, I enjoyed a fast dinner at the hostel and now write my website here, laying in my bed.
Im going to sleep very soon, as I have to get up tomorrow in time! ;)
Today was much better than yesterday and I’m happy about meeting my friends Susanna and Richart – still, I couldn’t stop thinking about my girlfriend all the time!
Especially when I walked so long in the hot sun on the long emty road, I thought so much about her!
Each e-mail she sends me, feels good, as I miss her so much!
I’m back on the crazy road of travelling, but with my thought still in Antigua, Guatemala.
