like last weekend time just went by as horrible fast as usually … – but at least it’s good to know, that there is only one more week of basic training to go – after the next week, they will give me a (hopefully) pretty boring job at an other military base – and I’m as well pretty happy, about the “an other one”-part, as there are millions of mosquito’s in the area around the base I’m positioned right now …
I hope, it will be possible for me, to find a lot of time during the next few month, to do some research for my world tour, starting in February 2009 …
So let us talk a bit about the last week … – actually it started quite heavy for me – I didn’t got a lot of sleep during the last weekend (as I drove to the Frequency festival) and so on I returned to my base (on hour later than I planed to be there, because my clothes weren’t ready after washing them ^^) quite tired. Had to get up in the next day as usually at 6am and got in the evening the job to be “officer of the day” … – this is a special job, going 24 hours long – to explain it shortly – your job is, to keep sure, the building as well as all your colleges wont get insured – so you are sitting together with another college the whole time long at the door of our building, asking everybody you don’t know, if he can show you his military ID card.
They take persons for that job randomly in order of there family name … – how ever just had bad luck =b
So on I had to sit at the gate till 2am and only got about 4 and a half hours of sleep … – it wouldn’t be that worst, if we wouldn’t have had on the next day our shooting-day … – traditionally this day takes about a full day (till 12pm), but because they like us, it only took till 10 pm – so that we got two hours in the middle of the night to clean our weapon as well as clean our self and than go to bed at 12pm …
because I’m using since few weeks quite a lot of time to write SMS’s in bed, instead of sleeping, I also only got about 5 hours sleep that night ^^
Just imagine, how tired I was, after having for few days only between 4 and 5 hours of sleep =P
The hardest day was Tuesday, when we went shooting – actually shooting itself is quite boring … – that’s maybe because I’m not really interested in war/fighting/weapons-stuff … – but on the other hand, it was also nice, to try it once – actually really got a lot good shoots =)
… to clean the weapon after shooting is another quite boring stuff in the story – usually takes between one and two hours to clean such a gun …
So what else happened during the last week/weekend … – I finally got my military glasses – which are looking quite good – compared to the glasses nearly everybody else got, because they didn’t went to there optician (only 5 people did so ;) …
and last but not least I have to add, that I decided, I have to have some more drinks with my Indian friend Vivian – had really good fun yesterday evening, as we enjoyed a few beers in downtown Vienna ^^ =)
